The Ruddle Report

Opinions Wanted

Filed under: University Council — ruddlereport @ 9:04 pm

Tomorrow University Council will be considering proposals to limit the new member education process (pledgeship) to eight weeks for Greek organizations, have the Honor Code posted on a plaque in each classroom, and a proposal to require all first-year and transfer undergraduate students to complete an On-line Alcohol Education Module before they can register for their second semester of classes.

Before that meeting, I will be participating in a forum with the student University Council representatives.  I would like feedback on what you think about the proposals, are they good? bad? or should they be changed?  Just leave a comment below.

Thanks,

PAR

  1. How much would it cost to make all of the plaques? I think that the University could find a better way to spend it’s money (i’m staring at a hole in the wall of my dorm – something to start with). The plaques will have no affect on the integrity of the student body.

  2. I think 8 weeks is plenty long enough but that it shouldn’t be made into a big deal, let them have their fun I guess. I think the plaques is a huge waste of money, give me a break. And I think since the alcohol thing is online, it won’t be as big of a deal as it would be if they were required to take a class or something. They definitely shouldn’t have to eat into their hours with an alcohol awareness class, I like this better.
